ABSTRACT
The study focuses on the development in terms of the design, form and content of Campus Gist magazine of the University of Port Harcourt to serve as a model campus magazine.
The need for information sharing and dissemination in an educated community such as the University of Port Harcourt brings about the need to provide a unique platform that will circulate properly within the environment. The review of literature for the study revealed that magazines play important roles in the society as they educate, inform, entertain and set agenda for the people. Also, every magazine has a targeted audience whose needs they want to satisfy and hence the circulation is packaged in a peculiar way so as to satisfy these particular needs. An example in this context is the campus magazine; a historical document of the growth and highlights of important activities of an educational institutions. It reflects the identity of the university through the writings of its students as well as the teachers and serves as an integral part of the education system by inculcating the students with different abilities.
The magazine designed and produced by this project employed modern design techniques in magazine publishing that are trendy, colourful and sleek in design as well as parked with information and entertainment. The contents are also arranged in a way that can captivate an audience and a cover that is set to encourage anyone to pick up the magazine. The magazine will help revolutionalise the concept of designing and publishing the CAMPUS GIST Magazine of the University of Port Harcourt that it thrives as a model Campus Magazine.
